2018 was Aline Beauné’s first vintage creating wine for herself, after spending 15 years winemaking for Château de la Crée, Santenay and coming to the realisation that she wanted to make her very own wine. When the Buxy co-operative’s lease on 5ha of her family’s 12ha of beautiful Montagny vines came to an end she jumped at the chance to take them back and start her own domaine, going “back to my roots” as she says. The previous tenants were farming responsibly, but Beauné felt the land had more to offer. She is transitioning to organic farming and already using some biodynamic treatments to ease this transition for the vines. Her 5ha are found in the commune of Saint-Vallerin and are split across Aligoté (12.5%), Bourgogne Blanc (25%), Montagny Villages (50%) and Montagny 1er cru Chazelle (12.5%). With Aline’s talent and experience, and excellent vines for raw materials, this domaine is truly one to watch.
