In 2022, the quality of harvested fruit at Cheval was simply phenomenal. Out of the 43 parcels farmed by the Chateau, 41 reached perfect maturity and were selected for the Grand Vin blend, leaving no fruit for Petit Cheval which won’t see the light of day in 2022. The homogenous quality of each plot made for a very complete blend, which translates into one of the absolute top wines of the vintage. Reserved, dark and brooding, Cheval 2022 is a true classic in the making. A memorable wine deserving several years of judicious cellaring.

TASTING NOTE – WILLIAM KELLEY
The Wine Advocate
“One of the stars of the vintage is the striking 2022 Cheval Blanc…bursts from the glass with aromas of mulberries, cherries and wild berries mingled with mint, orange zest, pencil lead, vine smoke and exotic spices. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered, it’s rich and gourmand, with beautifully refined tannins, lively acids and a long, saline, pungently perfumed finish. Harvest began on 29 August, with all the Merlot picked before the month was out, and the result is a wine that is as vibrant as it is lavish “
