CHAMPAGNE
We are delighted to introduce Domaine Les Monts Fournois, a new Champagne estate based around the stunning Premier Cru “Les Monts Fournois” monopole, located in Ludes in the northern part of the Montagne de Reims. Recently released worldwide for the first time ever to selected markets, Wine Source has been appointed the UK sole distributor. Bolstering our growing champagne portfolio with the mission to represent the best growers and terroirs of the region.
The first vintage of the champagnes grown on this monopole is 2022: a dream vintage that will be available from 2027. Until then, the Domaine will release an annual series of cuvées under its own label; a very small selection of vintage Grand & Premier Cru Champagne sourced from exceptional growers working iconic vineyards across the Côte des Blancs, the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne.
This new chapter in Champagne weaves together the heritage of the Bérêche family name; cousins Juliette Alip along with Raphaël & Vincent Bérêche through a fabric of great historical terroirs and vintages. For further details on this ambitious project, read more…
The domaine recently welcomed critic Antonio Galloni (Vinous), notes yet to be released.
The 2023 selection is now available to pre-order

THE CUVEES
IN BOND PRICE LIST
“VALLÉE”
Premier Cru Aÿ & Vallée de la Marne
£270 In bond per case of six bottles
Vintage: NV
Blend: 70% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay, 10% Meunier, Extra Brut
Production: 5,000 bottles
Bottled: 9th June 2016, then 75 months !! in the cellar
Disgorged: September 2022 (on a fruit day)
Dosage: 5.6 g/l
We call this deluxe because it gets 7 years ageing in the cellar! It’s base 2015 and a blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay (20%), and Pinot Meunier (10%). It’s a solar plot in a south facing majority vineyard in Marne Valley so it’s a powerful, beautifully ripe, very accessible and fruity wine. Prune, apple, Mirabelle, yellow fruit. There’s a touch of ripe exotic fruits, with a salty finish. This has a classic vinification in tank.

“CÔTE” | 2017 Millésime
Mesnil sur Oger Grand Cru, Côte des Blancs
£345 In bond per case of six bottles
Vintage: 2017
Blend: 100% Chardonnay, Extra Brut
Production: 8,800 bottles
Bottled: 25th July 2018
Disgorged: November 2022 (on a fruit day)
Dosage: 4.5 g/l
This is like Le Mesnil; it’s high definition, a little austere, like when you taste a young Salon. It’s still very fresh and will keep 10 years. It’s refined, elegant, with citrus peel. Vibrant!

“MONTAGNE” | 2013 Millésime
Verzenay Grand Cru, Montagne de Reims
£405 In bond per case of six bottles
Vintage: 2013
Blend: 100% Pinot Noir, Extra Brut
Production: 1,000 bottles
Bottled: 29th April 2014
Disgorged: December 2022 (on a fruit day)
Dosage: 3.4 g/l
This is from a single vineyard: Les Noues in Verzenay, close to the lighthouse of the village. There is lots of Mailly red clay in this terroir so it’s high identity. The essence of Verzenay is precision; it’s the same aesthetic as Côte de Beaune, vibrant freshness with good ripeness; iron; structure; blood orange juice; crisp; very original for Pinot Noir. In 2013 the harvest started in October – this doesn’t happen any more! That was late ripenening, with a big diurnal variation.

“MONTAGNE” | 2014 Millésime
Verzenay Grand Cru, Montagne de Reims
£480 In bond per case of six bottles
Vintage: 2014
Blend: 100% Pinot Noir, Extra Brut
Production: 1,000 bottles
Bottled: 16th April 2015
Disgorged: December 2022 (on a fruit day)
Dosage: 3.4 g/l
The 2014 is more classic Verzenay style, it doesn’t give you a lot of aromas at first. This has a classic vinification in tank. Enjoy it with food to understand the long finish.

“MONTAGNE” | 2015 Millésime
Verzenay Grand Cru, Montagne de Reims
£405 In bond per case of six bottles
Vintage: 2015
Blend: 100% Pinot Noir, Extra Brut
Production: 1,000 bottles
Bottled: 30th March 2016
Disgorged: December 2022 (on a fruit day)
Dosage: 3.4 g/l
2015 was decent in the north of Montage de Reims, but still very ripe! This is a very full, big wine. We love this wine for aperitif because it’s more accessible with its “ripe austerity” if we can say that. It’s red iron, red clay.
