In the centre of a stunning natural valley just east of Calistoga,near the northern end of Napa Valley, Eisele Vineyard is a unique terroir with an almost perfect situation: its warm, complex and well-drained soils are cooled by breezes from the Chalk Hill Gap, yet protectively encircled by the Palisades Mountains to the north. The land has been planted to vines since 1884; in 1969, the Eisele family purchased the property and planted what has become its famous Cabernet Sauvignon. From 1971 – 1991, the iconic producers Ridge and Joseph Phelps produced wine from fruit grown on this pristine land, before the Araujo family took over and established their eponymous brand. Now Artemis Domaines, owners of Château Latour, Domaine d’Eugénie and Château-Grillet, are producing characteristically complex, concentrated and long-lived wines from this utter jewel of a vineyard.
